(1) Disciple 101 – John 15:4-5

What are we doing here? Where would Jesus be?

(2) Introduction – what defines us? Values.

(3) Speaking or serving – 1 Peter 4:10-11.

(4) Four values

1 Filling up – [Luke 24:46-49 and Acts 1:4-5 and 8][https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+24%3A46-49%2C+Acts+1%3A4-5%2C+8&version=ESVUK]
2 For a mission – John 20:21-22
3 Out there – Mark 16:15
4 To show Jesus to others – Matthew 28:19-20
5 (5) Microlight at Shobdon Airfield – filling up before flight etc. Being a disciple requires ‘filling up’ and checks – still feels unprepared, unsafe.

(6) Characteristics of disciples

• People who ‘abide’ in Jesus John 15:4-5 Hanging out and hanging in with Him.
• Disciples know their need of empowerment Acts 1:4-5 and 8
• Disciples carry fresh life-giving water John 7:37
• Disciples are not carrying unresolved issues Eph. 4:32 …forgiving each other…)
• Disciples are visible, approachable, comfortable people to be with Acts 2:42-47
• Disciples are on a mission to bring change [Mark 1:15](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+1%3A15&version=ESVUK

• Disciples are continually growing and learning. Apprentices. Greek mathetes Matthew 10:1

(7) Conflict.

The filling station is not the journey. Worship empowers mission. “The church is about mission as fire is about burning" (Emil Brunner).
